Permanent marking and Suisse Itinérance guide book
Since summer 2011 the route of the TVSB is marked permanently. The new X-Alpine is now entirely marked along its 111km. In link with the marking a guide book has been published. It presents the whole X-Alpine route and some other training trails.
The marking is noticeable along the route and consists of white signs with green stickers; in the main villages a large pannel shows the entire route and indicates walking/running times.
The aim of the permanent marking is to allow the runners to discover the route without getting the wrong way but it's much lighter than during the race days.
But don't get it wrong, it's not a guarantee of security and you still go on your own responsability. The route is between 700 and 2,700 m in altitude so it is higly recommended to get informed on the mountain conditions. The best season is from mid June to end September, when there isn't any snow or at least not too much. The guide book can help you a lot in finding your way, specially in bad weather conditions.
During the race, this permanent marking is renforced by green paint and red/white flags.
